Your antenatal care
As your midwife l provide all of your antenatal appointments at a time and place that suits you, usually in your home. Home is where people feel most comfortable, surrounded by the people and familiarities that encourage feelings of happiness and relaxation. I have however, visited clients on film sets, studios and at relatives houses. Normally, the tea is better at your house, plus I get to meet partners, children and cats! Appointments last for as long as you need, usually at least an hour. This allows plenty of time to address your holistic wellbeing. Midwifery care is far more than just the clinical monitoring of your and your baby’s medical health (your blood pressure, urineanalysis, a feel of your abdomen to monitor your baby's growth, any blood tests and a listen in of your baby’s heart beat). Midwifery (true to its definition, "with woman") addresses your pregnancy related questions and plans for birth while allowing space for your anxieties, tears, laughter and joy - all to be experienced without conditions. I will issue you with your Antenatal Care Records ("Handheld Notes") at your booking appointment. Your schedule of care: every four weeks until you are 28 weeks pregnant, fortnightly until 36 weeks and then weekly until your baby arrives. In between appointments, should you have any concerns or worries you can contact me by email or phone. From week 36, I am on call for you any time of the day or night.
